
Matemwe Beach Village is located on the northeast coast of Zanzibar. It is only a 45 minute drive from Stonetown and in a moderately developed area of the island. This property is serene, not gated, and best suited for guests looking for a quiet retreat while avoiding large crowds and nightlife.
Each guest room consists of an en-suite bathroom, warm shower, flush toilet, overhead fan, mosquito net, and verandas to relax outside the room. With varying views of the garden or sea, Standard and Suite room configurations are available for single, double, twin, and triple occupancy. Guests are encouraged to bring their own personal hygiene products, as the resort strives to be an environmentally friendly establishment and therefore limits its plastics onsite. Housekeeping is available every day.
Meals are catered by an onsite, local chef. Breakfast consists of local fruits and international cuisine. A small snack menu is available for mid-day eats. Dinners are served on a rotating location schedule of the restaurant, pool, boma, etc. Seating may be exclusive, but it is often encouraged for guests to share tables and conversation. Food is of a high standard and served buffet style. Dietary restrictions may be accommodated, but the hotel requests advance notification if possible. Guests may also walk along the beach and take a look at other nearby lunch and dinner options.
