Kendwa Rocks is about an hours drive from Stone Town on the northwestern tip of Zanzibar. The north is considered to have the best beaches on Zanzibar, so there are many places to eat, drink and socialise in the area.
The name of this hotel comes from the coral rock formation at the end of the stretch of beach. 23 simple yet comfortable bungalows have been built on some of this amazing rock. Kendwa Rocks does not have a pool, but it does sit on one of the best beaches on Zanzibar.
Kendwa Village is well known for Dhow building, so guests may see the traditional method of making these boats while walking through the local villages or along the beach. The local villagers have even built a turtle sanctuary where injured turtles and other marine animals are nursed back to health before being released back into the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

Visitors to Kendwa Rocks may relax on the beach, enjoy a massage, snorkel or dive on the nearby coral reefs, enjoy a sunset cruise or share a large bbq’d fish with friends on the beach at night!
Kendwa Rocks is the main host of the famous Full Moon Party, which happens every month on the Saturday closest to the time of the full moon, so if guests want some quiet time, they should avoid this time!
Kendwa's atmosphere is friendly and there is beach volleyball most afternoons. Over the weekends, this stretch of beach comes alive to the sounds of reggae and rock, with young travelers from around the globe chatting and dancing in small and decorative seaside bars.
Kendwa Rocks is ideal for independent travelers or families visiting Zanzibar on a budget.
