Seronera Wildlife Lodge is part of a larger chain of hotels found around the National Parks in northern Tanzania that were built for the middle budget market. These lodges have been refurbished in the last year, giving them all a fresh look.
One great aspect of these lodges is location. Because the Tanzanian government once owned these lodges, it had power to put them in the best locations around each National Park. Seronera Wildlife Lodge in particular, is right at the heart of Serengeti. It is perfectly located to take advantage of the large number of wildlife which resides around the lodge all year round.
Furthermore, the lodge is only 2 minutes from the take-off point for hot-air balloon rides and 5 minutes from the airstrip for flights to Arusha or Zanzibar.
The lodge's 75 bedrooms are built around the large rocks in the area in a two-tiered terraced row, and can either be single, double or twin.
Each guest room is comfortable, spacious and decorated with lots of natural colours and wood. Each room also has coffee-making facilities and an en-suite bathroom. There are no temperature controls in the rooms, but large sliding windows open up to allow the natural breeze to flow through.
The food at Seronera Wildlife Lodge is a combination of international and local dishes. It is typically served buffet style to cater to the number of guests at the lodge. The lodge only serves a la carte if there are fewer than 30 guests. Like most standard hotels, drinks are not included in the accommodation package.
Seronera Wildlife Lodge has a stunning pool carved out of the side of a rock and which looks out over the Serengeti plains. It is a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the view and sunsets.
Guests may also enjoy the gym, TV in the main lounge, shop, spa, internet café, laundry facilities (for a small fee) and babysitting services on request (though parents should be aware that the child minder will be a staff member who may not be professionally trained).
Seronera Wildlife Lodge will accept Tanzanian shillings and USD cash. Mastercard and Visa are also accepted (network permitting) with a 5% fee.
